Flor Diaz

When Flor Diaz arrived in the United States from the Dominican Republic, she hoped that by working hard and by using the resources available in the United States, she could one day open her own business.  Fourteen years later, Flor is the proud owner of Florquidiaz, a bridal shop in Queens. "I like selling and sewing bridal materials," she explained. "It's elegant and I feel that I'm part of the moment when a woman chooses her dress. It's a way for me to participate in their happiness too."
 
Flor approached ACCION for a loan in 2006 in order to buy fabric and other inventory for her business in order to increase her sales.  At ACCION she found not only capital, but the support she needed to make the most of her loan.  Working with OnTRAC, ACCION's Training, Resource and Advising Center, she learned practical ways to market her business and further increase her sales.

"I'm proud to have achieved this dream and to be able to earn money for my four children," says Flor.  "I plan on continuing to build my business by expanding my shop, offering more products and hiring an employee."
