Stephanie Mack
For Stephanie Mack, a loan from ACCION New York and New Jersey made the difference between making ends meet, and making her business a true success. Stephanie was working within the health care industry when a new federal law that suddenly required health care providers to follow strict document destruction policies turned the industry upside down. While hospitals, doctors, and clinics scrambled to adhere to the new policy, Stephanie researched metropolitan New York's document destruction service market to see if she could get a business off the ground.
She began Just-N-Time Dynamics and set up her Bronx-based office in January of 2003, obtaining her first contracts through cold-calls and ads in local newspapers. "Starting a business is like traveling a rocky road," says Stephanie. "Once my business was off the ground, the biggest challenge was managing cash flow. Business was slow, expenses had to be addressed, and payments weren't coming in on time." Finding business financing proved difficult, as banks were hesitant to lend to a young business in a fledgling industry. A loan from ACCION New York and New Jersey alleviated Stephanie's cash flow challenge and gave her business a needed push forward.
Today, Just-N-Time Dynamics holds contracts with hospitals and offices throughout New York City, and Stephanie's biggest challenge is keeping up with the demands of her business. Her business success has tricked down to her community--by creating Just-N-Time Dynamics, Stephanie created five new jobs for Bronx residents.
