Advisory Council
If you are a professional interested in becoming involved in microfinance and economic development, give your skills and time to ACCION New York.
What is the ACCION New York Advisory Council?
Created in the Fall of 2007 and now over 100 members strong, the ACCION Advisory Council is a group of professionals that contributes to the sustainability of ACCION New York and New Jersey by promoting microfinance among other professionals, providing strategic advice and assistance in fundraising activities. Our mission is to develop and maintain a forum of professional volunteers who advocate for domestic microfinance and enhance the effectiveness of ACCION New York and New Jersey.
The Council works closely with ACCION staff and Board of Directors, to meet the following Council goals:
- Bridging the overwhelming interest in microfinance among young professionals and a microfinance organization
- Build awareness of domestic microfinance via the work of ACCION New York and New Jersey
- Support ACCION New York and New Jersey in its fundraising efforts
How do I get involved?
The ACCION Advisory Council Steering Committee is comprised of four committees: Advocacy, Consulting, Fundraising and Membership. Interested participants will be asked to work with Committee Chairs to achieve core 2008 objectives of the ACCION Advisory Council.
Additionally, Friends of ACCION New York provides an alternative way to be affiliated with the leading player in domestic microfinance. Members receive updates on the organization and are invited to attend external events throughout the year.
Members pledge a $20 annual tax-exempt donation to ACCION New York and New Jersey.
